The mind at ten is uncluttered. The woman’s real name is Marilyn. Passed several years back. My brother and I would place five cents down for a Saturday triple bill of horror flicks that summer at the LeRose Theatre in hopes she would be there. Sit across the aisle and spy on her. So innocent and human. Boys and girls fun. Occasionally, she’d smile back. A Jesus moment.

Truth. I wish that I'd written that line.

This story was as richly nostalgic, and as profoundly satisfying, as my Grandma's Walnut Cake.

So much of Life consists of loss - in one way or another.
